Disaster Relief Information for Local Leagues

Year over year, local leagues continue to experience devastating effects from natural disasters, but as communities begin the long road to recovery, Little League is committed to ensuring that baseball and softball fields — and the equipment kids need — are ready when they are. Little League Baseball and Softball fields are more than places to play. They are places where communities heal and often become the first sense of normalcy for families after a disaster by offering a place to gather. To support these efforts as part of its overall philanthropic support launched in 2024, the Little League Disaster Relief Fund was established in 2025 to provide assistance to local communities during times of greatest need.

DOes Your League Need Disaster Relief Support?

If your league has suffered a natural disaster and is looking for support in your recovery, we encourage you to follow the steps below. To help us better understand the level of impact across our local Little Leagues, we ask that you take the time to complete the following steps:

  1. Review Your Insurance Policies and Complete Your Insurance Claims: Please ensure that you complete any necessary insurance claims as soon as possible.  This will help address any immediate needs for facility repairs, equipment replacement, or other essential expenses related to your league’s recovery. Our team is here to offer support if needed and can be reached at 570-326-1921, choose the extension for Insurance.As part of this review process, you should also speak with any local or municipal officials that may govern your park or facility. Those entities should also be engaged for potential insurance on the facility, buildings, and other related items.  
  2. Complete the Damage Assessment Survey: To help us better understand the level of impact across our local Little Leagues, we ask that you complete our Disaster Relief Damage Assessment Survey: https://littleleague.formstack.com/forms/disaster_relief. Your thorough response will allow us to understand the extent of the challenges your league is facing and to plan for further recovery efforts. Leagues should include any estimates for repairs and rebuilding from reputable contractors or partners, with as much detail as possible. 
  3. Grant Invitation: Should your league have filed for appropriate insurance claims and provided appropriate information through the assessment survey, Little League will review for opportunities to support through the Disaster Relief Fund grant invitation process. Little League also works with its partners, such as the DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation, to determine other potential funding opportunities. If selected, leagues will be invited to complete a grant application as the last step in the process.
  4. Grant Awards and Impact Reporting: Leagues that have been awarded grants through the disaster relief fund will be required to report on use of funds including expenditures, projects undertaken and impact on the league and community. Reporting will be included in Little League’s annual impact report.
