In Little League®, memorable moments between parents and their children happen every day in communities all around the world, but during the 2022 MLB Spring Training, one of those moments carried over to the game’s biggest stage.

During a March 20, 2022, Spring Training game between the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals, Astros’ manager Dusty Baker was met at home plate by his son and Nationals’ prospect, Darren Baker, to exchange lineups.

A 2007 enshrinee to the Little League Hall of Excellence, Dusty Baker has experienced all the incredible moments and memories that Little League has offered, from his time as a player in Riverside, California, to his nearly 50 years in the majors as a player and coach. Most importantly, it has been the lifelong memories with his son, Darren, that they will both cherish.

For Darren, a graduate of the Loomis-Eureka Lakeside Little League program in Granite Bay, California, life around the game of baseball has always been something he has cherished with his father and these are the moments he will remember forever.

Today, there are various Little League alumni like Mr. Baker and his son who have gone on from their time playing on the Little League field to outstanding careers in professional baseball and softball, as well as a number of other accomplishments outside of sports.

For parents and their children in communities all around the world, these memorable moments start on and around the Little League field. Now, as the 2022 baseball and softball season gets underway, it’s more important than ever to become a part of the Little League story and help the next generation of Little Leaguers® bring their story to life.
