Little League recognizes dedicated volunteers for service around the world.
Nearly 1,500 representatives of Little League® Baseball and Softball from around the world gathered together in New Orleans for the 27th Little League International Congress on January 19-22.
Congress officially got kicked off in style on Friday, January 19, with the Opening Convocation at the New Orleans Convention Center as attendees were provided with a taste of the New Orleans culture, including a performance by a local gospel choir group, a visit from a local Little League team, and a parade back to the hotel led by local New Orleans performers. The Convocation was highlighted with the official enshrinement of Baseball Commissioner Robert D. Manfred into the Little League Hall of Excellence.
Throughout the course of the weekend, Little League District Administrators (D.A.s) and Assistant District Administrators (A.D.A.s) gathered together for discussions on future rule changes, outline standards for exceptional leadership and volunteer service, and the selection of two regional representatives to the Little League International Board of Directors.
On the final day, Little League proudly honored a handful of select D.A.s and A.D.A.s at the District Volunteer Recognition Breakfast for their dedicated service to the program and joined with ESPN’s Kyle Peterson and Jessica Mendoza for a discussion on their experience and insight.
Congress was officially concluded on Monday evening at the Chairman’s Banquet as Little League honored the winners of the President’s Award, Chairman’s Award, and Peter J. McGovern Distinguished Service Award before capping the night with a performance by America’s Got Talent’s The Passing Zone.
