Are you interested in umpiring on the big stage at one of our Region or World Series Tournaments? Join us at one of our Little League® Umpire ID Camps – a one-day opportunity to showcase your skills and be considered for selection to a Region or World Series Tournament!

What is an ID Camp?

ID Camps help our Selection Committee identify high-performing umpires across the program to consider for selection to our various Region and World Series Tournaments. However, attendance at an ID Camp is not a requirement for selection.

Held at five locations across the United States each fall, our ID Camps are a one-day event, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (local time). Umpires will attend either the Saturday session or the Sunday session at each site. The cost to attend an ID Camp is $30, which covers the cost of the camp and includes lunch, but umpires are responsible for all other travel, meal, and lodging arrangements.

Attending umpires will be evaluated as part of consideration for selection to any of our various Region and World Series Tournaments. Umpires will receive written feedback, and evaluation will assess the following points during drill work, simulations, and/or live games (if available):

  1. Alignment to our Organizational Identity and Cultural Blueprint
  2. Strike Zone Accuracy
  3. Play Positioning
  4. Style and Form of Calls
  5. Rules Knowledge and Application

How do I attend an ID Camp?

All umpires can register to attend an ID Camp through the Umpire Registry in two different registration periods to help manage the volume of registrations:

  • Registration Period #1: June through August – This early registration period is open exclusively to all umpires who have umpired a Region or World Series Tournament prior to September 1. Our staff will review each umpire’s registration to verify the qualifications of umpires registering during this registration period.
  • Registration Period #2: After September 1 – This second registration period is open to all umpires interested in umpiring a Region or World Series Tournament, including those who may have not yet umpired a Region or World Series Tournament.

When registering, all umpires will complete a brief online form listing their qualifications and experience, and our camp staff will review each umpire’s registration to assist with planning and organizing the ID Camp effectively.

Attending an ID Camp – What to Know Before You Go

  • Registration through the Umpire Registry is $30 for this one-day event
  • Umpires are only to attend one, not both days, of their selected ID Camp.
  • Umpires must bring their own full uniform and all equipment and should check weather conditions to be prepared for outdoor drills, simulations, and/or live games (if available).
  • On-site check-in will be held from 8:30 to 9 a.m. the morning of the event.
  • Only lunch will be provided to attending umpires. All other meals, travel, and lodging expenses are the responsibility of each individual umpire.
  • Each umpire is reminded that he/she should have an up-to-date background check completed through the Umpire Registry in addition to have completed the annual Little League Abuse Awareness Training found at LittleLeague.org/AbuseAwareness. Attending umpires may be required to produce proof of background check status and Abuse Awareness Training certificate at any point prior to the event and should bring proof of such documentation with them to the on-site check-in the morning of the event.

Clarifying Points About ID Camps:

  • ID Camps are not a prerequisite for selection to a Region or World Series but help our Selection Committee identify high-performing umpires across the program.
  • Attending an ID Camp does not guarantee selection to a future Region or World Series Tournament.
  • Umpires will receive equal consideration for selection whether they have or have not attended an ID Camp. Likewise, umpires will also receive equal consideration for selection whether they have or have not yet umpired a Region or World Series event previously.
  • ID Camps are simply another way to identify high-performing umpires to consider for selection to our Region and World Series events, yet they are not the only way to do so. Attending clinics and academies are two examples of other ways to do so for all umpires interested in umpiring a Region or World Series Tournament.
