Little League® International Remembers Beverly Gray Hale, Longtime Corporate Secretary and Wife of Late, Former Little League President, Creighton J. Hale

Beverly Gray Hale has passed away at the age of 84. Mrs. Hale was employed by Little League Baseball®, Incorporated for nearly 50 years, and was the wife of the late Dr. Creighton J. Hale, former President and CEO of Little League® International.

Mrs. Hale, a native of Williamsport, Pa., began her career with Little League on June 1, 1951, as a Clerk and Typist following her graduation from Williamsport High School earlier in the year.

During five decades with Little League, Mrs. Hale served the organization in a variety of capacities, including Secretary (1954-56) and Executive Secretary to Peter J. McGovern, Little League President and Chairman of the Board (1956-1984). She served as Corporate Secretary from 1969 until her retirement on December 31, 2000.

“Beverly Hale holds a special place in the history of Little League, and her contributions to the program are many,” said Stephen D. Keener, Little League President and CEO. “Beverly enjoyed a vibrant life, full of enriching and rewarding experiences and she will most certainly be missed. We will be forever grateful for the lasting impact she has had, not only on the Little League program, but the lives of all of us here at Little League International. During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with the Hale children, and their many friends.”

Mrs. Hale was ever-present and impactful during her career at Little League International, and, later in life, marrying Dr. Hale in 2001. A dedicated employee, her role as Corporate Secretary supported the Little League International Board of Directors over a time of great expansion and evolution of the Little League International program. Her late husband, Dr. Hale, was an accomplished safety innovator, joining the Little League International staff in 1955. He served as Little League President from 1973 to 1994 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in 1983. He was 93 at the time of his death in October 2017. The Hales were the only Little League employees attend each of the first 26 Little League International Congresses.

Mrs. Hale is survived by her step-children, Tad (Jenny) Hale and Kathy Dumanis. Also, surviving Mrs. Hale are 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her stepson, Timothy.
