Beginning March 16, through May 15, local Little League® programs will have the opportunity to apply for two grants through the new Little League SAFE to Play Grant Program, which provides financial support to help leagues strengthen safety efforts and reduce injury risk. Funding for these grants is made possible through Musco Lighting’s ongoing commitment to safety, preparedness, and the well-being of Little League players nationwide.

“SAFE to Play Grants are intended to support a wide range of leagues, including those demonstrating strong safety practices as well as leagues facing resource-based challenges,” said Joy Reynolds McCoy, Little League Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer. “We are grateful for the continued support of our friends at Musco Lighting for making these grants possible, and for their commitment to helping make local Little League programs and communities safer.”

For the 2026 season, a total of $180,000 in grant funding will be available to support local Little League programs through two SAFE to Play Grant opportunities. NOTE: Leagues that complete the SAFE Summary Builder and the Annual Facility Survey through the Little League Data Center will receive an invitation to apply.

The two grant opportunities include:

  1. AED Grant Program: Provides funding to assist leagues in obtaining Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to improve emergency preparedness at the field.
  2. Facility Improvement Grant Program: Provides funding to support safety-related improvements to fields and facilities used for Little League games and practices.

When reviewing SAFE to Play Grant applications, Little League considers factors such as a league’s completion of safety requirements, participation in Little League training programs, and the expected impact of the proposed project on player and volunteer safety.

Grant funding is limited, and applications will be reviewed following the close of the grant period on May 15, 2026. Grant recipients will be notified directly, with funding expected to be distributed in Fall 2026.
