Southeast Region Tournament Volunteer Team

At the Little League® Baseball and Softball Southeast Region Tournaments in Warner Robins, GA, we can only function with outstanding volunteer support. The success of Little League is built on the dedicated volunteers in local programs across the globe, and our tournaments are no different. Over the past years and past tournaments, we have enjoyed wonderful volunteers who have shown outstanding enthusiasm, hard work and dedication. Volunteer Teams

  • Concessions

    You will operate a point-of-sell system (with a tablet), serve and prepare food, operate grill and fryers, stock products, maintain and clean appliances and facility. Team members will work in one of a few roles, such as griller, fryer, food prep, cashier, general assistance, or stocker. If a volunteer is not comfortable with operating specific appliances and machines, you will not be asked to do such.

    The concession stand is under health department regulations and all volunteers must follow requirements, which include no food consumption, wearing proper protective gear, wearing closed toed shoes and following hygiene requirements.

    Typical shifts and time for this area begin about 30-45 minutes before the first game of the day and will conclude near the end of the game.

    4-6 volunteers are typically needed all times, with a team member needed to fill the roles of griller, fryer, food prep and cashier always.

  • Facilities

    You will be responsible for cleaning the dugouts after each game, collect and discard trash into the dumpsters, clean and monitor bathrooms, fill coolers with water, ice and Gatorade, set-up tents and supplies and various other tasks to assist with maintaining a clean facility.

    Typical shifts and time for this area begin up to two hours before the first game and extend up to 60 minutes following the final out of the day. Duties are mainly performed outside and in times during inclement weather.

    This area is restricted to those who previously served in this area. New or returning volunteers from outside of facilities may request joining this team and will be considered based on needs and the volunteer.

    2-4 volunteers are typically needed all times.

  • Gift Shop

    You will operate a point-of-sell system (with a tablet), handle money, process credit cards, stock products and assist customers. Gift shop also typically becomes are central hub for information.

    Typical shifts and time for this area begin 45-60 before the first game of the day and finish as the game ends or within about 30 minutes of final out.

    2-3 volunteers are typically needed all times.

  • Grounds Crew

    You will assist with providing a safe playing surface, applying field conditioner, lining the field, preparing the mound and home plate, preparing the bullpens, watering the field and various other related tasks, including field tarp duty. Team members will need to ensure all work is in line with the field maintenance and prep plan and it is important to ensure teammates take direction from leadership. Each team member must wear closed toe shoes.

    Typical shifts and time for this area begin many hours before the first pitch, which can be 2-3 hours before. Work in this area takes place before and after games with work completed at the end of the day, which could be 60 minutes after the final out. All duties are performed outside and sometimes during periods of inclement (but safe) weather.

    This area is restricted to those who previously served in this area. New or returning volunteers from outside of grounds crew may request to join this team and will be considered based on needs and the volunteer.

    4-7 volunteers are typically needed all times.

  • Press Box

    You would be a part of a crucial team to ensure game operations flow smoothly with various positions available. Roles in the press box include Gamechanger scorer, scoreboard operator, public address announcer and pitch counter (baseball only). All positions are inside, except pitch counter and two additional select roles (official scorer and TOC) which are within stadium well. Knowledge of the game is needed, and some experience is needed based on the position.

    Typical shifts and time for this area are based on game schedule and begin 30-45 minutes before first pitch and lasting the whole game.

    This area is restricted to those who previously served in this area. New or returning volunteers from outside of press box may request to join this team and will be considered based on needs and the volunteer.

  • Spectator Support

    You will provide in-stadium support and assistance to fans, families of the teams and general guests. This will include maintaining order in the stadium, restricting access to various stadium areas by verifying credentials, while greeting and welcoming all to the stadium. You will also help direct to various portions of the complex, answer questions and assist with collecting trash during and after games. You may also be asked to aid our traffic team.

    You will likely be stationed outside, but in most cases underneath covering. Locations may be on top of the concourse, within the seating bowl or under the right field pavilion. There may be rare times a team member will be needed in exposed areas for various periods of time.

    Typical shifts and time for this area starts 45-60 minutes before the first pitch of the day or earlier and through about two-three hours after the scheduled start of the last game of the day.

    3-5 volunteers are needed per shift.

  • Team Meals

    You will set up and serve daily catered lunches to teams, pack to-go meals for umpires and teams, prepare room for meals, assist with clean-up, and interact with teams as needed. Meals are not served at the stadium, but across the street at the office building. Each team member must wear closed toe shoes.

    Typical shifts and time for this area is between 10:30 am and 2:30 pm each game day. These times may vary based on that day’s schedule and number of teams to feed.

    This area is restricted to those who previously served in this area. New or returning volunteers from outside of team meals may request to be considered for this team and will be considered based on needs and the volunteer.

    4-6 volunteers are needed per day.

  • Traffic

    You will assist with verifying cars that have parking passes, directing cars to open parking spaces, welcoming guests to the complex, assisting with directions, issuing day and drop off passes and other related duties.

    You will be stationed either at the main entrance gate or within the parking lot. Tents are provided, but you will be exposed to the weather.

    Typical shifts and time for this area starts at least two hours before the first pitch of the day or earlier and through about two hours after scheduled start of last game of the day.

    2-3 volunteers are needed per shift.

How to Volunteer

Typically in May, registration begins for all possible volunteers for the Southeast Region Tournament. Each volunteer must meet the requirements and complete the necessary forms annually. We recommend joining the team as soon as possible and no later than July 5.

Application

Each volunteer will complete Little League’s online volunteer application and background check consent. A government-issued ID and input of social security number is required. A satisfactory background check which does not reveal any offenses that disqualify an individual from volunteering with Little League.

Any prospective volunteer with technical limits or challenges can schedule time at the Region office to complete via an iPad.

AGE

In most cases, each volunteer must be at least 16-years-old. Those 16 and 17 may be restricted from select duties and teams. Those under 16 and looking to volunteer will be considered on a per-individual basis and how they can assist.

ABUSE AWARENESS COURSE

Select volunteers, which includes those with repeat and repetitive access to Region Tournament players will have to annually complete the Little League Abuse Awareness Course. This will be mandatory for all teams members with the Grounds Crew and Team Meals, with other volunteers determined per individual based on duties by Little League staff. All team members required to complete the course will be contacted directly by Little League staff after a satisfactory background check.

Volunteer Package

  • Package Contents

    Each volunteer receives a package with the following items.

    1. Two volunteer t-shirts
    2. One volunteer badge and lanyard
    3. One stadium parking pass
    4. Goodie bag
    5. Various sponsor-related items
    6. Special gift
  • Volunteer Hats

    Grounds crew volunteers will receive hats with other volunteers able to request a hat. Note hats might be dated from past years.

  • Volunteer Meals

    Each volunteer will receive one volunteer meal voucher or one volunteer boxed meal. Volunteers working longer days may receive a second meal item. Various snacks will be available at times.

  • Water and Gatorade

    Bottled water will be available at all times along with access to premade Gatorade during select times. We will also have water jugs and fountains to allow you to refill bottles.
