Longtime Little League® Volunteer Kituwah Golden Named West Region Director

Kituwah Golden

Little League® International has announced Kituwah “Kit” Golden as its new West Region Director, based in San Bernardino, California, effective as of April 19, 2022.

“We are excited to welcome Kit to our team, as she takes over in a leadership role at our West Region offices in San Bernardino,” said Dan Velte, Little League Senior Operations Executive. “Kit’s long-tenured experience as a Little League volunteer, combined with her background in customer service and volunteer operations, provides her with a tremendous set of skills that will help us support, develop, and strengthen our local leagues and districts across the West Region, and we look forward to her taking on this new opportunity.”

Prior to joining the Little League team as an employee, Ms. Golden has spent more than 25 years as a Little League volunteer, including eight years as a District Administrator, the highest-level volunteer within the Little League Baseball and Softball organization. During that time, Ms. Golden served as a member of the Content Committee for Little League University, hosted tournaments throughout California District 20, and assisted with the growth and development of the leagues within her district.

“Little League has been an important part of my life since the first day I walked to the ballpark with my family, and now, it is such an honor and a blessing to be able to serve the Little League community as the new West Region Director,” said Ms. Golden. “As a player, Little League taught me the value of hard work, how to deal with disappointment, the pride of accomplishment, and provided me with mentors to help mold my character along the way. As a parent and volunteer, I learned the hard work and dedication that it takes to keep players on the field and the impact that the coaches and volunteers have in the players growth as members of their community. I am so excited to join the West Region team and look forward to working closely with the tremendous volunteer corps that makes the West Region such an amazing place to be a part of.”

In this new role as West Region Director, Ms. Golden will work with the West Region staff to assist districts and local Little League programs throughout 11 states, enhance operations, and continue to develop and implement new training programs as a resource for those leagues. Ms. Golden will also assist in the operation of tournaments, including the annual Little League Softball® West and Northwest Region Tournament, as well as the three Little League Baseball® Mountain, Northwest, and West Region Tournaments, hosted at Little League’s San Bernardino Complex.

In addition to her service as a District Administrator, Ms. Golden also has various professional experience working in customer service and insurance services, while concurrently operating her own business from 1995-2008. Additionally, Ms. Golden has served in a variety of high-level roles within her community’s Parent Teacher Association, an intervention classroom volunteer at Sutherland Elementary School, and a website coordinator for Glendora Youth Basketball.

A 1991 graduate of UCLA with a bachelor’s degree in history, Ms. Golden has also earned a certificate in non-profit management from Cal Poly Pomona in 2018 and is currently working to complete a master’s degree in sports administration.

The Little League West Region Headquarters Complex includes Al Houghton Stadium, a Little League-Division size field that is used for the region tournaments and serves districts and local leagues in 11 states (Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming).
