After a long-fought battle with cancer, Little League® International mourns the passing of Catherine M. Madden, a longtime East Region volunteer.
As an experienced Registered Nurse, Madden worked for New Britain General Hospital, Bristol VNA, and the Torrington School District throughout her career. Passionate about baseball and giving back to her community, when Madden wasn’t working as an RN, she could be found at the A. Bartlett Giamatti Leadership Training Center, which serves as the Little League East Region Headquarters, in Bristol, Connecticut. Madden carried her professional experience into her 32 years at the baseball and softball fields, serving as both a general volunteer and a nurse during the East Region Little League tournaments. She was also employed by Little League as the nurse for the Little League Summer Camps in Bristol from 1996 to 2011.
Madden is survived by her husband, Allen Madden; her two children, Sara Madden and her wife, Jennifer Schick; and Michael Madden and his wife, Ariel Colosky; her grandchildren, William, Robert, and Betty Madden-Schick; her siblings, Robert LeBel, Kim Reis, and Beth Yu; and several nieces and nephews.
Madden will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to her family and Little League. Her legacy and service to her community will be lived out by all who knew her.
