Little League® Celebrates the 2025 Coach of the Year Award Winners, Supported by Positive Coaching Alliance

After a record-breaking year of inspiring submissions, Little League® is thrilled to announce the winners of the 2025 Little League® Coach of the Year Award Supported by Positive Coaching Alliance.

This annual award celebrates exceptional coaches who exemplify positive leadership, mentorship, and sportsmanship, and go above and beyond, to create positive, character-building experiences for young athletes in their communities. These volunteer coaches help young athletes not only grow in the game but also develop the character and confidence to thrive off the field.

Little League Baseball® Coach of the Year: Jessica Lewis

North Accomack Little League (Chincoteague, Va.) 

Jessica Lewis is known throughout her community as a dedicated coach, league vice president, and advocate for fairness and inclusion in youth sports. She invests countless hours ensuring balanced teams, creating joyful player experiences, and supporting every child’s development. From personalized MVP medals to walk-up songs on Opening Day, Jessica brings creativity, encouragement, and heart to every season—embodying what it means to lead with purpose and positivity.

Little League Softball® Coach of the Year: Hillary Schmidt 

Renton (Wash.) Little League

Beloved for her boundless energy, humor, and commitment, Coach Hillary pours her heart into developing each player as both an athlete and a person. Driving more than 30 minutes each way to practices and games, she sets the standard for dedication and sportsmanship—celebrating every player’s growth, including those on opposing teams. A Renton Little League alumna herself, Hillary now gives back to her community by mentoring young athletes and fostering a culture of respect, confidence, and love for the game.

Little League Challenger Coach of the Year: Jack Malone 

Upper Darby (Pa.) Little League

For more than three decades, “Coach Jack” Malone has been a beacon of leadership and compassion within the Challenger Division. When faced with his league’s potential closure, Jack took action—rechartering the program and ensuring every player had a place to play. Now in his 70s, he continues to pitch, coach, and inspire athletes of all abilities. His unwavering commitment and countless volunteer hours have made him a cornerstone of the Upper Darby community and a model of servant leadership.

Each honoree’s local league will receive a $5,000 grant to help further their mission of providing a positive and accessible youth sports experience for all players.  These remarkable coaches remind us that youth sports are about more than wins and losses—they’re about building community, instilling confidence, and helping young people fall in love with the game.

Congratulations once again to Jessica Lewis, Hillary Schmidt, and Jack Malone, and a heartfelt thank you to all the nominators, leagues, and coaches who make a lasting impact every day. We look forward to continuing the Coach of the Year Program in 2026, celebrating even more coaches who positively represent Little League with the shared values of teamwork, integrity, and respect.
