Little League® Baseball and Softball Promotes Dan Velte to Senior Director of League Development and Regional Operations

Little League® Baseball and Softball announced today the promotion of Dan Velte from Director of League Development and Affiliation to Senior Director of League Development and Regional Operations. Mr. Velte has played an integral role in growing the Little League program around the world, with his new position, he will oversee the personnel and operations of Little League’s nine regional headquarters and the overall growth of the program in the United States and abroad, under the guidance of Patrick W. Wilson, Little League Senior Vice President of Operations and Program Development.

“Dan has worked very closely with our regional staffs and volunteers to promote the growth of Little League and provide guidance and support to expand the organization around the world,” said Stephen D. Keener, Little League President and CEO. “With his new position, Dan will be able to build on his successes and help directly support the operations of Little League programs in communities around the world.”

Mr. Velte, a native Geneva, N.Y., has worked for Little League International since graduating from Brockport (N.Y.) State University in 2001. In addition to his position as Director of League Development and Affiliation, he also served as the Southwestern Regional Assistant Director from 2001 to 2004. Mr. Velte relocated to Williamsport, Pa., in 2004, when he assumed the newly created position of Director of League Development. Since 2007, he has served as Director of League Development and Affiliation, and has been crucial in the development of innovative resources to support local league operations, including the Little League Chartering and Marketing Toolkit. He also coordinates all the travel for the nearly 100 teams that compete in the nine Little League World Series tournaments. Little League International pays for all travel, housing, and meal-related expenses for all participants playing in its World Series events.

With his new position, Mr. Velte will oversee Little League’s regional operations staffs, based in Bristol, Conn.; Warner Robins, Ga.; Waco, Texas; Indianapolis, Ind.; San Bernardino, Calif.; Kutno, Poland; Ottawa, Ontario; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Hong Kong, China. He will also work directly with the league development staff at Little League International Headquarters in South Williamsport, Pa. Mr. Velte will continue to serve on the Little League International Charter/Tournament Committee and as the Little League Baseball® World Series Assistant Tournament Director.
