The 2019 ASAP Award Winners Showcase Thoughtfulness, Planning in Their League Safety Efforts

Since its creation, the Little League® Baseball and Softball A Safety Awareness Program (ASAP) has been embraced by local leagues nationwide and has helped to reduce injuries by 90 percent.

In 2019, local Little League programs throughout the United States participated in the program at a record rate. During this year’s Little League Baseball® World Series, in Williamsport, Pa., the ASAP Regional Winners were recognized by Little League International and the program’s supporters Musco Lighting and AIG.

The 2019 ASAP Regional Winners are:

Southeast Region – West Boynton Little League (Florida) – West Boynton LL has focused on regular equipment inspections, thoroughly inspecting the facility, monitoring weather, and promoting responsive first aid practices.

East Region – Hamilton Township Recreation Baseball Association Little League (New Jersey) – Hamilton Township LL requires volunteers to be fingerprinted and issued specialized badges with its 911 Emergency Plan on the back and emphasizes individual and group safety.

Central Region – Blaine Area Little League (Minnesota) – Blaine LL promotes safety by example, is committed to evaluation, and secured an AED on site to allowing for quick action in the event of a life-threatening situation.

Southwest Region – Brazos Little League (Texas) – Brazos LL emphasizes volunteer background checks and finds proactive ways for players and families to think about safety before every practice and game.

West Region – Concord American Little League (California) – Concord LL initiated concussion prevention practices, volunteer badges, and secured an AED on site to respond quickly in the event of major medical emergencies.

And as additional recognition for their work, Concord American Little League was selected as the 2019 National Winner and awarded a complete Musco Light-Structure Green lighting system for a 200-foot field.
