WEST CAPTURES SENIOR LEAGUE SOFTBALL WORLD SERIES, DEFEATS CENTRAL, 10-0

An outstanding effort by Macy Newbary lifted West to a 10-0 win in six innings over Central on Saturday at Bruce Layton Field.

Newbary looked sharp in the circle. Central managed just one hit off of the West’s pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out nine during her six innings of work.

West beat Central thanks to 10 hits, including five extra base hits. West scored three runs in the fifth on West scored in the fifth on an RBI double by Jaime Schafer and a two-run home run by Taylor Holmes.

Newbary racked up three RBIs on three hits for West. She doubled in the first inning, homered in the fourth inning, and singled in the sixth inning.

Cassidy Wisler was the game’s losing pitcher. She lasted just three innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed four runs.

West went up for good in the first, scoring three runs on an RBI double by Kendall Rauk, a groundout by Holmes, and an RBI single by Schafer.

West got three-run rallies in the fourth inning and the fifth. In the fourth, West scored on a three-run home run by Newbary, bringing home Quincy Preston and Sierrah Hardy.
