SOUTHWEST CAPTURES SENIOR LEAGUE BASEBALL WORLD SERIES, DEFEATS CENTRAL 8-1

A seven-run explosion in the third inning led Southwest to an 8-1 win in seven innings over Central at Mansfield Stadium on Saturday.

Southwest scored in the third on an error, an error, a passed ball, a two-run triple by Mitchell Black, and a walk by Thomas Parks.

Southwest was led by Jimmy Winston’s hitting. Winston went 3-4 and scored two runs. He singled in the first, third, and sixth innings.

Central couldn’t get anything going so long as Jacob Millender was on the hill. Central managed just one hit off of the Southwest’s pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his 3 1/3 innings of work.

Derek Miller had an impressive outing against Southwest’s lineup. Southwest managed just one hit off of Miller, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out one during his four innings of work.

Bryan Yoder couldn’t get it done on the hill for Central, taking a loss. He allowed eight runs in two innings, walked none and struck out one.
