Little League® Remembers Former Pennsylvania State Director and Little League International Board of Directors Member Michael Serino

Little League® International mourns the passing of Michael Serino, a longtime volunteer of the program from the grassroots to the state level in Pennsylvania, and even as a former member of the Little League International Board of Directors. 

A volunteer of the Little League program for more than 65 years, Serino was committed to helping bring the mission of the organization to life in not only his community but communities all around the world.

He began his volunteer service as a coach, insisting that his sons be on different teams for the West Scranton (Pa.) Little League. He was an umpire, local league board member, assistant administrator, umpire-in-chief, Section and State coordinator, and served as District Administrator for Pennsylvania Districts 32 and 17 for more than 22 years  Even after retirement, he would fill in as Tournament Director whenever needed.  As a tribute to his unwavering dedication to service of others, in 2021 he received the NEPA Sports Hall of Fame Service Award.

In 2011, Serino was elected by his fellow D.A.s throughout the East Region to serve as a Field Director for the Little League International Board of Directors, joining two other D.A.s as Field Directors in the 2011 election, as well as retired NHL player, Chris Drury.

Michael is survived by his children Michael F. Serino, Flemington, NJ, Arlene Mc Feely, Tinton Falls, NJ and Frank Serino and his wife Jayne, Lenhartsville, Pennsylvania, his devoted companion Pearl Nuss, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Mary Sarmonis, a sister Marie “Cookie” Serino, and a daughter-in-law Judith Serino.

He was the son of the late Frank and Evelyn Pelak Serino, was a graduate of West Scranton High School Class of 1955, and served in the Army Reserves and PA National Guard.
