Little League® International mourns the passing of Joseph Robinette “Beau” Biden III, son of Vice President Joseph Biden.

A staunch supporter of Little League, Beau Biden, grew up playing Little League just north of Wilmington, Del. He served as the Attorney General of Delaware and was a Major in the Delaware Army National Guard. His father, Vice President Biden, was a 2009 enshrinee of the Little League Hall of Excellence, and grew up playing Little League in Scranton, Pa. Both Vice President Biden and his son continued to support Little Leaguers® in their home state of Delaware and throughout the world. In August 2013, they made a congratulatory call to Little League Baseball® Mid-Atlantic Champions from Newark National Little League in Newark, Del. That same month, he was diagnosed with brain cancer. He passed away at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., on May 30, 2015.

Mr. Biden and his wife, Hallie, have two children, Natalie and Hunter.

The entire Little League family expresses its deepest condolences to the entire Biden family on this tragic loss.
