Little League® International Congress to Be Held in Williamsport in 2022

International event will take place June 10-13, 2022, throughout the Williamsport Community to celebrate the 75th Little League Baseball® World Series.

After a thorough evaluation, the Little League® International Board of Directors has made the decision to relocate the 28th Little League International Congress from Anaheim, California, to Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

“This year has been a year unlike any other and has caused us all to reflect on our operations, practices, and future events,” said Hugh E. Tanner, Little League International Board of Directors Chairman. “After making the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 World Series and Regional Tournaments and push back the celebration of the 75th Little League Baseball World Series, we felt the relocation of the Congress was the best decision for our organization, the community, and all of our dedicated volunteers. Little League was born in Williamsport and is alive all over the world thanks to the support and spirit of our volunteers, and after such a difficult year, we can’t think of a more appropriate place to come back together as One Team. One Little League.”

Held every four years, the International Congress will convene June 10-13, 2022, throughout the Williamsport community with the final session being the day that starts National Little League Week, the kickoff of the Little League International Tournament Season, and the celebration of the 75th Little League Baseball World Series.

Little League International remains fully committed to making the travel to Williamsport, from a logistic and financial standpoint, as easy as possible for all its volunteers who will be attending and will provide those attendees with more information on travel, hotel, and other logistics in the near future. As this event will take place in the middle of the Little League season, Little League Operations and Regional staff will also support District Administrators and Assistant District Administrators with information and solutions to ensure that attending Congress will not impact their district operations.

“This event has been an integral part of our organization since the D.A. position was established in 1956, and the first Congress convened in Chicago,” said Stephen D. Keener, Little League President and CEO. “Our event two years ago in New Orleans was one to remember, and was a great opportunity to seek input from our dedicated volunteer leaders to help plan the future of the Little League program. We’re are looking forward to an exciting 2022 and a time where we can all safely be together with our Little League family.”

As part of the event, Little League International will work with the entire Williamsport community as it welcomes more than a thousand volunteers from around the world to help write the next chapter of the Little League story.

The last Little League International Congress to be held in Williamsport was in 1989, in coordination with the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the organization, and provided all the Little League volunteer District Administrators the same hospitality that the Williamsport community shows to the World Series teams, fans, and volunteers every summer.
