This past August, the Little League® International Board of Directors approved a plan to relocate the Central Region Headquarters facility and will now begin the process by accepting responses to a Request for Proposal (RFP) from communities wishing to be considered as the new site.

“Little League is proud to have called Indianapolis our Central Region home for more than 25 years,” said Stephen D. Keener, Little League President and CEO. “With the new plan in place, Little League Baseball and Softball is currently in search of a new location that will offer adequate facilities, strong infrastructure, and a supporting community that appreciates and understands the ideals of Little League.”

Established in 1989, the Central Region Headquarters is currently located in Indianapolis, Ind. It is one of five Little League regional offices located in the United States and serves as the administrative center for Little League Baseball and Softball activities in Kansas, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

The annual Little League Baseball® Great Lakes and Midwest Region Championships and Little League Softball® Central Region Championship tournaments are played at the Indianapolis facility in early August, with the winners advancing to the Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport, Pa., and the Little League Softball World Series in Portland, Ore., respectively. Other Little League-related events also are held at the facility throughout the remainder of the year. While the current site in Indianapolis has served effectively as the Central Region’s home for more than two decades, the decision to relocate was made in order to identify a location that suits our evolving needs, and to allow Little League to continue to provide a family-friendly environment for the tournaments and events held each year at the complex.

Collectively, the Central Region Headquarters, with the guidance and assistance provided by 89 volunteer District Administrators, coordinates operations for approximately 26,000 teams and 375,000 players participating in all levels of Little League Baseball and Softball.

The new location of the Central Region Headquarters will be selected from the communities responding to the Request for Proposal. Little League expects the new location will be identified in 2017. Until a new location is determined, operations will continue out of the current Central Region Headquarters in Indianapolis, which is now on sale in the real estate market.
