This 5-Week, self-paced, preparation course seeks to provide attendees with the classroom content typically covered during the Central Region Umpire Academy. The free 5-Week course will require attendees to complete assignments asynchronously while also providing a weekly, one-hour synchronous session lead by the Central Region Umpire Training Staff. This course is designed to prepare umpires of all experience levels for the upcoming season and is intended to serve as a prerequisite for attendance at the Central Region Umpire Academy.

Leveraging the Google Classroom and weekly recorded Zoom Meetings, each week of the course will require participants to complete four modules in each of the four major domains of umpiring: Rules Instruction, Plate Instruction, Base Instruction, and Professionalism & Effort. While these modules will be self-paced and completed asynchronously using videos, text, and weekly quizzes on the Google Classroom, members of the Central Region Umpire Training Staff will host a one-hour Zoom meeting for all attendees each week to provide live instruction and answer questions regarding the content from each module.

After registration and prior to the beginning of the class, participants will receive an invitation to join the Google Classroom and receive weekly Zoom meeting links via email. Each synchronous Zoom session will be recorded and distributed to participants.

The course will culminate with a comprehensive rules and mechanics examination the week of April 18, 2022, and individuals will receive a certificate of completion after taking the course.
