Melissa Singer Retires from Little League® International After More Than 25-year Career

Following an incredible career at Little League® International that started in 1998, Melissa Singer has announced her retirement from the organization, effective Tuesday, March 3.

“Little League has been such a monumental part of my identity over the years,” said Melissa Singer, Little League Senior Executive, Finance. “After all this time, I still believe in the mission of this program. What we do is more than youth baseball and softball; it is about giving kids joy, making memories, and teaching life lessons that last beyond the final out. Here, every day has felt so meaningful. I am truly going to miss the Little League family.”

Singer’s Little League journey began when she received an unexpected phone call from a former colleague, who told her that there was an open position in the finance department. After submitting her application and visiting the complex for two in-person interviews, Singer got a phone call from then-Little League President and CEO Steve Keener, letting her know she got the job and her life was forever changed.

“Throughout her career, Melissa has been a tremendous asset to the Little League program,” said Patrick Wilson, Little League President and CEO. “Her knowledge, passion for our program, and experience have left a lasting impact on the organization, and it has been my honor and pleasure to grow this program alongside Melissa over these past two and a half decades. On behalf of everyone at Little League, and all those she has impacted during her time here, I’d like to thank and congratulate Melissa on a well-deserved retirement.”

During her time as Senior Finance Executive, Singer was responsible for the day-to-day finances, balancing budgets, paying bills, and accounting of the organization. However, it was never the numbers that made her most excited to come to work every day; it was the people and the magical feeling Williamsport epitomizes.

“The teamwork that the individuals in Williamsport and across our regions do to make dreams come true has enriched this position more than I could even believe,” said Singer.

As Singer’s time with Little League winds down, she reflects on what these past years have meant to her and what she has learned throughout the years.

“If you love what you are working for, it will make you want to learn more. Learn everything there is about what you are passionate about and succeed at it. You must go into your passion, take a year, and learn everything there is to it,” said Singer. “There is nobody who starts in any career and knows everything from the beginning. Learn from those around you, take your time, and be patient with yourself to one day achieve your biggest and brightest goals.”
