In July 2025, the City of Ingram and the surrounding area in Texas were devastated by the quick-hitting Hill Country Floods, completely destroying homes, ripping apart businesses, and unfortunately taking the lives of more than 135 people. Amongst the devastation was a complete destruction of the Ingram (Texas) Little League facility, a staple within the community for more than 200 children and their families.
To support the league’s recovery efforts, Little League® International has announced a donation of $25,000 to the league from its Disaster Relief Fund, allowing the league the financial support to get the fields ready for the 2026 season.
“Little League is all about community, but unfortunately, natural disasters like the Hill Country Floods occur every year in communities all around the world. Following the devastation, however, it’s often our local Little League fields that become the first place that families and neighborhoods turn to for recovery and to return to a sense of normalcy,” said Pat Wilson, Little League President and CEO. “As the Ingram community recovers from the destruction they faced this summer, we are proud to provide the league with this donation to help support their efforts and provide the families, volunteers, and most importantly, the children with a place to write their own Little League story.”
In addition to the funds provided by Little League International through the Disaster Relief Fund, Ingram LL has also seen support on both the local and national level, including from Little League’s Official Partners in the DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation, Musco Lighting, Rawlings, and Pitch In For Baseball & Softball, as well as a $2.5 million initiative from the nearby Houston Astros Foundation. Through the support of all these funds, the league will create three new baseball/softball fields, two practice fields, batting cages, and other amenities in addition to providing equipment and other necessities to allow the league to operate and provide a fun and memorable Little League season in 2026.
“This grant will have an incredible impact. The greatest impact of the flooding involved our community. Our opinion is that all of these kids need a win right now,” said Mark Hensley, Ingram Little League President. “We’ve already seen an increase in our registration for next year. There are a lot of kids and parents that are looking forward to getting out on these fields. It’s going to be a great thing for this community.”
Year over year, local leagues continue to experience devastating effects from natural disasters, but as communities begin the long road to recovery, Little League is committed to ensuring that baseball and softball fields — and the equipment kids need — are ready when they are. Little League® Baseball and Softball fields are more than places to play. They are places where communities heal and often become the first sense of normalcy for families after a disaster by offering a place to gather. To support these efforts, the Little League Disaster Relief Fund was established to provide assistance to local communities during times of greatest need.
While the Disaster Relief Fund is new for Little League in 2025, the organization has provided four other leagues with grants earlier this summer to recover from the impact of natural disasters: Martinez Evans (Ga.) Little League, Canton (N.C.) Little League, Indian Rocks Beach (Fla.) Little League, and the 2025 Carl E. Stotz Little League Community of the Year Award Recipients – North Asheville (N.C.) Little League.
