Randy Soto hurled a three-hit complete shutout to advance Cacique Mara Little League from Maracaibo, Venezuela, in the 2019 Little League Baseball® World Series, while also eliminating Australia by the score of 2-0.
The Latin America Region Champions plated runs in the second and fifth innings. Ibrahaim Ruiz and Hendrik Maestre collected doubles; with both accounting for their team’s runs scored.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Soto struck out four, and walked one; while Max Miotto worked five innings, allowing both runs, on five hits in a losing effort.
IDeivis Ordoñez, Davirik Fuenmayor, and Moisés Concho all had one hit for Latin America, which advances to a Monday matchup with the loser of Sunday’s Japan vs. Mexico contest at Little League Volunteer Stadium.
Australia has been eliminated from championship contention. The team from Sydney, South Wales will close out its World Series tournament with a game against the loser of New England-Great Lakes game.
