Eastbank (La.) Little League eliminated Elmora (Elizabeth, N.J.) Youth Little League from title contention and claimed spot in the United States Semifinal of the Little League Baseball® World Series, with a 4-1 victory on Wednesday.
The team from River Ridge, Louisiana, struck in the first inning, when an error allowed the first run of the game. The Southwest Region Champions extended their lead in the third inning, with three more runs.
Reece Roussel collected two of his team’s three hits, and the Eastbank Little Leaguers took advantage of three errors committed by the Mid-Atlantic Region winners.
Egan Prather started on the mound for Southwest, working into the sixth inning. In five-plus innings, he tallied 10 strikeouts against one walk. William Andrade came in for relief to finish the game. Together, the two pitchers let up two only hits.
The team from New Jersey did score one run in the sixth inning to avoid the shutout. J.R. Rosado pitched the entire game for Mid-Atlantic, recording seven strikeouts, and allowing one walk.
Eastbank Little League moves into the LLBWS United States Semifinal, and will meet the winner of Game 24 between Southeast Region representative Loudoun (Va.) South Little League and the West region champs Central East Maui (Hawaii) Little League on Thursday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. at Lamade Stadium.
