2019 Little League Baseball World Series – August 15 – 25

Minnesota Holds on to defeat Kentucky, 2-1, in a Clash of Little League® Central Region States

In a battle for Little League® Central Region supremacy, Coon Rapids-Andover (Minn.) Little League came out on top over Bowling Green East (Ky.) Little League with a 2-1 victory in their first round of the Little League Baseball® World Series.

Jameson Kuznia earned the mound win for the Midwest Region Champions from Minnesota. He struck out five and allowed two hits and one earned run. Carson Timm came in for relief, recording the last four outs to seal the win for Minnesota.

Great Lakes was secure on defense, with no errors. Grayson Newman started the game for Kentucky on the mound, where he allowed two earned runs before Chaze Huff came in during the third inning to finish the game. Both pitchers struck out four batters a piece.

LLBWS Tournament

Both Midwest and Great Lakes had two hits a piece. Midwest’s offense was lead by Drew Law and Tyler Philips, while Chaze and Nick Simpson each had a hit for Great Lakes.

Midwest will take on Southeast in their next game of the Little League World Series on Sunday, August 18 at 11:00 am in Lamade Stadium. Great Lakes will fight to keep their spot in Williamsport against New England on Saturday, August 17 at 3:00 pm in Lamade Stadium.
