2019 Little League Baseball World Series – August 15 – 25

Caribbean Punches Ticket to International Championship Game, Beats Asia-Pacific 5-3

Pabao (Curaçao) Little League has claimed its spot in the Little League Baseball® World Series International Championship following a 5-3 victory over Chung Nam (B) (South Korea) Little League Thursday afternoon at Howard J. Lamade Stadium.

South Korea struck first, scoring on a triple by Suho Yang. Curaçao answered when Clay Winklaar hit a grand slam, putting the team up 4-1 after one inning. South Korea scored two more in the third, but Curaçao extended its lead with another home run that same inning by Curley Martha.

Jurickson Profar started on the mound for Caribbean, pitching four-plus innings and striking out eight, before Curley Martha came in for relief. Curley closed out the game, striking out five to total 13 strikeouts for the Caribbean team. They let up only four hits and were solid in the field, with no errors.

LLBWS Tournament

Jinwon Na pitched the entire game for Asia-Pacific. He tallied four strikeouts, one walk, and let up six hits. His defense was strong behind him, letting up no errors.

The game included a 1:45 lightning and rain delay.

Caribbean will play in the Little League Baseball World Series International Championship on Saturday, August 24 at 12:30 pm against Japan in Lamade Stadium.
