Little League® International Remembers Marie Quade

Little League® International mourns the passing of Marie Quade, the wife of former Assistant Central Region Director Jack Quade. She was 97.

Mrs. Quade was a longtime resident of Gary, Indiana, and along with her husband, volunteered many years of service to the Little League program. Prior to his role at the Central Region, Mr. Quade was the director of the Senior League Baseball World Series (SLBWS) during the years it was played at Junedale Field in Gary, Indiana.

From the mid-1960s through 1985 the SLBWS was held in Gary. Through nearly three decades, Mrs. Quade was active in a variety of volunteer roles. Most visible was as the “Souvenir Queen” while her husband also served as public address announcer for the World Series games.

The Quades moved to Indianapolis in 1988, when Mr. Quade accepted the position of Assistant Region Director for the newly established Little League Central Region. Mrs. Quade enjoyed working alongside and spending time with the volunteers during the Central Region tournament games, as well as traveling to Williamsport, Pennsylvania for the annual Little League Baseball® World Series.

Professionally, Mrs. Quade worked on the cafeteria staff at Andrean Catholic High School in Gary for nearly 30 years, until the couple relocated to Indianapolis. After Mr. Quade’s passing in 1998, she returned to Northwest Indiana to be with her family.
