Little League® International Remembers Former Texas Assistant District 2 Administrator, Little League Baseball® World Series Umpire David Murphy

Little League® International mourns the passing of David Murphy, former Texas Assistant District 2 Administrator, and Little League Baseball® World Series Umpire. He was 64.

Mr. Murphy, a native of Lubbock, Texas, grew up in Brownfield, Texas, where he attended high school. He returned to Lubbock, spending more than 30 years there, before relocating to San Angelo, Texas. As a young man, Mr. Murphy attended Texas Tech University located in Lubbock, and was a master plumber by trade.

During his 36 years as a Little League volunteer, Mr. Murphy served in a variety of capacities at the local and district levels, but his passion was umpiring. His love of Little League and umpiring earned him the home plate assignment for the 2005 Little League Baseball® World Series championship game, played in Williamsport, Pa.

Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda; son, Chad; daughter, Mandee; mother, Iris; brothers, Sammy and Mike; sister, Teresa; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father Wendell.
