Little League® International Mourns the Loss of Former Indiana District 12 Administrator Ed “Ray” Harris

Little League® International remembers former Indiana District 12 Administrator Ed “Ray” Harris. He was 90.

Mr. Harris, a native of Orange County, Indiana, was elected as Indiana District 12 Administrator on two occasions. He first assumed the duties of D.A. in 1973 and held the position for 20 years (1993). Mr. Harris returned for a second term as D.A. in 2007, serving until 2013. Collectively, he volunteered as Indiana District 12 Administrator for 26 years and was a member of the district staff for more than 40 years. Overall, he volunteered 56 years to the local and district Little League programs, beginning with several years as a coach and umpire in Greenwood (Indiana) Little League.

Draft into military service in 1952, Mr. Harris was honorably discharged from the Army in 1954, serving during the Korean conflict. Upon his return to the United States, he accepted a position with Ford Motor Company, where was employed until his retirement after 42 years.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha; second wife, Patricia; sisters, Dorothy and Grace; and brother, Eugene. Mr. Harris is survived by sons, David and Jeff; and daughters, Rhea and Julie. He was stepfather to Patricia’s children – sons, Scott and Chuck, and daughters, Kim and Julie. The blended family provided Mr. Harris with 21 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren.
