Little League Southeast Region Office along with the Region’s Volunteer Umpire Staff presented the 2021 Golden Mask Award to Louis Nickerson of Vero Beach, Florida and District 17.
The Golden Mask Award has been presented since 2013 to honor a volunteer umpire in the Southeast Region The award honors a volunteer Little League umpire for his/her outstanding service to Little League Baseball and Softball programs across the Region.
As the District Umpire-in-Chief for Florida, Mr. Nickerson has spent countless hours in designing, conducting and leading training sessions for area umpires. He also dedicates time for his own growth, working hard to gain knowledge for himself and to be able to share with others.
Furthermore, he has recruited and mentored umpires, including those to be able to the same so umpires throughout the area are prepared for baseball and softball games.
With a love for the game and Little League, Mr. Nickerson is a deserving award winner of the Golden Mask.
Mr. Nickerson was presented the award during the Southeast Region’s Two-Umpire Mechanics Clinic in Warner Robins, GA held Feb. 25-27.
Nominations are open for 2022 and will close on June 1.
