The fifth ticket to the 2026 Little League Baseball® World Series, Presented by T-Mobile (LLBWS), has officially been clinched as Municipal de Tijuana Little League (Tijuana, Mexico) emerged victorious over Matamoros Little League in the Mexico Region Tournament championship game.
Municipal de Tijuana Little League earned its Region title with a 7-1 overall record in the event, marking the league’s third trip to Williamsport after previous appearances in 2013 and 2023, finishing 4-2 (third place) and 2-2 in those years, respectively. This trip also marks Mexico’s 38th trip to the LLBWS since 1957 — second only to Canada among international participants.
Collectively, Mexico owns an 81-63 overall LLBWS record, including three championships (1957, 1958, 1997), four runner-up finishes, and three third-place finishes. The country’s storied legacy began with Industrial Little League of Monterrey in 1957 — the first international team to win the title — capped by Angel Macias’s iconic perfect game in the championship game.
Municipal de Tijuana Little League Little League will begin in the 2026 LLBWS on Thursday, August 20, at Noon ET against the Australia Region, on ESPN.
The 2026 LLBWS will take place from August 19-30, 2026. For more information about the LLBWS, including visitor resources, special guests, and more, check back all summer long at LittleLeague.org/World Series. To start planning your visit to Williamsport, go to LittleLeague.org/Visit.
