Is it very important for District Administrators to impress upon their leagues the importance of understanding the significance of their constitution and bylaws documents.

First, explain the distinction between the constitution and the bylaws. Each is a different instrument. One covers “big picture” items, and the other establishes local rules and policies for day-to-day operation.

Within your role as a D.A., it is crucial to conduct a training session or meeting with your league officials so they can get a clear picture of how to draft these documents and, more importantly, how to amend or approve them.

An instructional video has been produced that will provide you with direction when reviewing a League’s Constitution and Bylaws.

If done properly, a league will minimize the risk of conflict with items such as elections, who is considered a league member, and the disciplinary process for any member in the league, among others.
