SUMMARY:2025 East Region Outreach Umpire Clinic
DESCRIPTION:The Little League 1-Day Outreach Clinic will be led by members of the Little League National Instructor Team and seeks to help umpires of all experience levels\, especially those at the grassroots levels\, learn the fundaments of umpiring Little League Baseball and Softball. This clinic is open to umpires of all ages\, skill levels\, and experience levels. \nHands-on\, engaging\, and interactive instruction will focus on teaching the basics of umpire in Little League to encourage and equip umpires for the season by focusing on the following topics: \n· The Role of the Little League Umpire \n· The Basics of Working the Plate – 3 Steps to Calling Balls & Strikes \n· Basic Field Mechanics and Positioning – Knowing Where & When to Stand \n· Working the 2-Umpire System \n· Little League Rules to Know \nOur National Instructor Team will utilize effective instructional strategies and leverage on-field drills and simulations to introduce\, apply\, and reinforce the concepts presented. \nTraining materials and lunch will be provided for all attending umpires. However\, umpires will be responsible for all other travel arrangements\, including lodging\, breakfast\, and dinner\, if appropriate. \nIt is suggested that umpires bring all umpire equipment and gear\, and umpires may dress in umpire uniform or wear clothing that allows them to move and participate freely in cage work\, drills\, and simulations accordingly. Umpires should also bring a glove with them to participate in all planned activities. \n**Note: Umpires under the age of 18 must be registered by their parent and/or legal guardian\, and the contact information provided must be that of the parent and/or legal guardian. \nAs a Little League Umpire\, all umpires are reminded to complete a background check on the Umpire Registry for $5.00 in addition to completing the Abuse Awareness Training via USA Baseball and SafeSport. Attendees may be required to provide a copy of the certificate indicating completion of this Abuse Awareness Training prior to participating in the training event. The Abuse Awareness training is free and can be completed here: https://www.littleleague.org/university/articles/abuse-awareness-training-course/. DESCRIPTION:The Little League Umpire Academy is a completely revamped and highly engaging umpire training event that provides a comprehensive\, jam-packed\, hands-on\, and interactive study and application of the Little League Rules\, Plate Mechanics\, Base Mechanics\, and the fundamentals of Working the 2-Umpire System. This training event is open to umpires ages 18 and older. \nMembers of our National Instructor Staff will lead instruction throughout the academy\, using thoughtful\, engaging\, and interactive instructional strategies to provide a high-quality\, highly comprehensive training event that equips and encourages umpires of all ability and experience levels. The National Instructor Team meets regularly to discuss best teaching practices\, to remain current on all modern trends in umpiring\, and to review and understand the Little League Umpire Development Curriculum so that we can provide an unmatched learning experience at each of our training events\, especially each of our Umpire Academies across the program. \nTraining materials and lunch will be provided for all attending umpires\, and umpires will be responsible for making their own lodging arrangements\, along with breakfast and dinner arrangements. \nAdditionally\, umpires are required to bring all umpire equipment and gear and are requested to dress in uniform for all sessions unless communicated otherwise by the training staff. Umpires should also bring a glove with them for cage work\, drills\, and simulations throughout the event. \nAs a Little League Umpire\, all umpires are reminded to complete a background check on the Umpire Registry for $5.00 in addition to completing the Abuse Awareness Training via USA Baseball and SafeSport.
