DESCRIPTION:The 2025 Maryland State Umpire Association training clinic will be held on Saturday\, February 15th\, at Lansdowne High School\, in Lansdowne\, MD (near the Baltimore beltway). \nBy registering early\, you provide us a good headcount and we can better plan for the clinic and lunch. \n\nThe clinic\, including lunch\, is available to all MSUA members. Annual membership dues are $35 and lifetime membership in MSUA is $200. \n\nUmpires wishing to join MSUA would become members beginning the day of the clinic.\nPrior members attending would have their membership renewed on the day of the clinic.\nLife members of MSUA have no fee\, and simply need to register for the annual clinic.\n\nThere will be a membership enrollment and attendance payment link on the MSUA website\, which will also be sent directly to all who pre-register. \n\n\nPlease help recruit new umpires!\nMSUA is committed to assisting in the recruitment and development of Little League umpires statewide.

DESCRIPTION:This Little League Umpire Outreach Clinic will be one day of instruction by experienced Little League umpire instructors on the basics of the 2 umpire mechanics. \nThe topics covered will include: \n\nConcepts and Philosophy of the Little League Umpire\,\nField Mechanics and Positioning\,\nPlate Mechanics\,\nTiming and Communication.\nGame Management and Handling Conflicts\n\nThis is an active clinic that will use on the field training methods to reinforce the key concepts of being a Little League umpire. The clinic will be taught with an eye towards learning new skills and refreshing your existing skills as the season approaches. \nWe will focus on the 2 Umpire Crew mechanics used in most Little League games on a 60 foot diamond. \nNo prior umpire experience is required to attend for adult students. Youth must be at least 13 years old and have some prior umpire experience to attend. \nLead Instructors will be qualified trainers with experience as instructors at previous Little League umpire schools and clinics. The latest in umpire mechanics being taught across all of Little League will be the basis for instruction. You will learn the same basic skills that are used by the umpires at the Little League World Series. \nStudents need to be prepared for active participation on a grass and dirt field. They should wear appropriate shoes (no metal cleats). \nA light lunch will be provided. \nThe performance of the actions of a Little League umpire include some risk of personal injury and/or damage to personal equipment. Students should be registered with their local Little League as a volunteer to be covered by the Little League Accident Insurance\, or ensure they are covered with their own insurance. \nCost to register for the Clinic:\nIf you a member of one of the California District 4 leagues you are eligible to register at no cost. D4 leagues have already contributed towards umpire training programs. Please select the California District 4 option when registering. \nIf you are not part of a California District 4 league\, the cost is $25.00 which goes towards clinic expenses. Select the Non-District 4 ticket option.

SUMMARY:2025 West Region Plate Mechanics Clinic
DESCRIPTION:The Little League Plate Mechanics clinic is a brand-new clinic offering for 2025\, and our National Instructor Team is excited about offering this specialized clinic to help umpires of all skill levels and experience improve their plate work! This training event is open to umpires ages 18 and older. \nOur plate mechanics clinic will focus specifically on building and refining the fundamentals of working the plate to produce accurate and competent plate umpires. The curriculum will focus on five instructional modules\, leveraging dynamic seminar\, interactive classroom instruction\, drill-work\, and video analysis to provide a highly engaging and thought-provoking learning environment: \n· Module 1: The 3 Basic Steps to Calling Balls & Strikes \n· Module 2: Strike Zone Strategy \n· Module 3: Style & Form of Calls \n· Module 4: Efficient Movement from behind the Plate \n· Module 5: Play Positioning for Force Plays and Tag Plays at the Plate \nTraining materials and lunch will be provided for all attending umpires\, and umpires will be responsible for making their own lodging arrangements\, along with breakfast and dinner arrangements. \nAdditionally\, umpires are required to bring all umpire equipment and gear and are requested to dress in full umpire uniform during all sessions unless communicated otherwise by the training staff. Umpires should also bring a glove with them for cage work\, drills\, and simulations throughout the event. \nAs a Little League Umpire\, all umpires are reminded to complete a background check on the Umpire Registry for $5.00 in addition to completing the Abuse Awareness Training via USA Baseball and SafeSport. Attendees may be required to provide a copy of the certificate indicating completion of this Abuse Awareness Training prior to participating in the training event. The Abuse Awareness training is free and can be completed here: https://www.littleleague.org/university/articles/abuse-awareness-training-course/. (Note: Certificates must be dated after October 1 of the previous year to be valid and will be necessary should live games or simulations be used during the event.) \nWhether new to the umpiring ranks or many years of experience\, this plate mechanics clinic will ensure you have the most current\, up-to-date\, and approved mechanics and rules knowledge to elevate your game and succeed as a plate umpire.
