DESCRIPTION:The West Region Umpire Academy is designed for the volunteer Little League Umpire. It is 5 days of classroom and on the field training that delves into rules knowledge\, mechanics\, umpiring philosophy and game management. Training materials and meals will be provided. Umpire gear is required. Students are strongly urged to dress as an umpire during all sessions. Please Note: There will be NO lodging provided. DESCRIPTION:This one day umpire clinic will engage participants in hands-on activities to improve all facets of an umpire’s game. Ideal for both the novice and experienced umpire\, the clinic will provide participants with first-class instruction on the rationale and components of the approved Little League plate mechanics including stances\, signaling and footwork. Additionally\, the clinic will have a series of breakout sessions where participants will be asked to practice their skills under the watchful eyes of East Regional Umpire Staff. Targeted feedback is provided to gear umpires up for the coming Little League season. There will also be segments focused on the rules of Little League Baseball and Softball with a special emphasis on any relevant rule changes for the 2024 season.
