DESCRIPTION:The Little League Tournament Preparation Clinic for Umpires is a brand-new clinic offering for 2025! The National Instructor Team is excited to offer this clinic to prepare and equip umpires that will be working any level of the International Tournament. This training event is open to umpires ages 18 and older who will be working any level of the International Tournament\, including Districts\, Section\, State\, Region\, and/or World Series. \nThe Tournament Preparation Clinic for Umpires will focus on preparing umpires for the International Tournament by maximizing the performance of each umpire. Leveraging engaging and dynamic seminar\, interactive classroom instruction\, drill-work\, and video review\, the clinic curriculum will focus on the following topics: \n· The Little League 4-Umpire System for the 60-Foot and Big Diamonds \n· Play Positioning Strategies for Plays at 1B\, 2B\, 3B\, and HP \n· Little League Rules & Tournament Rules to Know \n· Handling Situations and Crew Leadership \nTraining materials and lunch will be provided for all attending umpires\, and umpires will be responsible for making their own lodging arrangements\, along with breakfast and dinner arrangements. \nAdditionally\, umpires are required to bring all umpire equipment and gear and are requested to dress in full umpire uniform during all sessions unless communicated otherwise by the training staff. Umpires should also bring a glove with them for cage work\, drills\, and simulations throughout the event. \nAs a Little League Umpire\, all umpires are reminded to complete a background check on the Umpire Registry for $5.00 in addition to completing the Abuse Awareness Training via USA Baseball and SafeSport. Students must be a minimum of eighteen years old to attend this Academy. \nEnrollment in this Academy will be limited to forty (40) participants. It will be held in the Dr. Creighton J. Hale International Grove Dining Hall\, Recreation Room (2nd Floor)\, and the field facilities at International Headquarters. Should we experience inclement weather\, all field exercises and plate work will be conducted indoors. \nThe Little League Umpire Academy is a completely revamped and highly engaging umpire training event that provides a comprehensive\, jam-packed\, hands-on\, and interactive study and application of the Little League Rules\, Plate Mechanics\, Base Mechanics\, and the fundamentals of Working the 2-Umpire System. \nMembers of our National Instructor Staff will lead instruction throughout the academy\, using thoughtful\, engaging\, and interactive instructional strategies to provide a high-quality\, highly comprehensive training event that equips and encourages umpires of all ability and experience levels. The National Instructor Team meets regularly to discuss best teaching practices\, to remain current on all modern trends in umpiring\, and to review and understand the Little League Umpire Development Curriculum so that we can provide an unmatched learning experience at each of our training events\, especially each of our Umpire Academies across the program. \nThe cost of the academy is $300.00 per student and covers all instructional materials\, three meals per day (Wednesday – Saturday)\, and one meal (Sunday)\, and housing in Little League International Dormitories. Each student attending the academy will need to provide their own equipment including an umpire hat\, indicator for balls and strikes\, baseball glove for cage work\, drills\, and simulations\, mask\, and complete plate equipment. The preferred uniform for the school is charcoal gray umpire pants\, black t-shirt\, black shirt/jacket\, black shoes\, and black belt. \nAs a Little League Umpire\, all umpires are reminded to complete a background check on the Umpire Registry for $5.00 in addition to completing the Abuse Awareness Training via USA Baseball and SafeSport. Attendees may be required to provide a copy of the certificate indicating completion of this Abuse Awareness Training prior to participating in the training event. The Abuse Awareness training is free and can be completed here: https://www.littleleague.org/university/articles/abuse-awareness-training-course/.
