DESCRIPTION:The Little League Umpire Academy is a completely revamped and highly engaging umpire training event that provides a comprehensive\, jam-packed\, hands-on\, and interactive study and application of the Little League Rules\, Plate Mechanics\, Base Mechanics\, and the fundamentals of Working the 2-Umpire System. DESCRIPTION:This Little League Umpire Outreach Clinic will be one day of instruction by experienced Little League umpire instructors on the basics of the 2 umpire mechanics. \nThe topics covered will include: \n\nConcepts and Philosophy of the Little League Umpire\,\nField Mechanics and Positioning\,\nPlate Mechanics\,\nTiming and Communication.\nGame Management and Handling Conflicts\n\nThis is an active clinic that will use on the field training methods to reinforce the key concepts of being a Little League umpire. The clinic will be taught with an eye towards learning new skills and refreshing your existing skills as the season approaches. \nWe will focus on the 2 Umpire Crew mechanics used in most Little League games on a 60 foot diamond. \nNo prior umpire experience is required to attend for adult students. Youth must be at least 13 years old and have some prior umpire experience to attend. \nLead Instructors will be qualified trainers with experience as instructors at previous Little League umpire schools and clinics. The latest in umpire mechanics being taught across all of Little League will be the basis for instruction. You will learn the same basic skills that are used by the umpires at the Little League World Series. \nStudents need to be prepared for active participation on a grass and dirt field. They should wear appropriate shoes (no metal cleats). \nA light lunch will be provided. \nThe performance of the actions of a Little League umpire include some risk of personal injury and/or damage to personal equipment. Students should be registered with their local Little League as a volunteer to be covered by the Little League Accident Insurance\, or ensure they are covered with their own insurance. \nCost to register for the Clinic:\nIf you a member of one of the California District 4 leagues you are eligible to register at no cost. D4 leagues have already contributed towards umpire training programs. Please select the California District 4 option when registering. \nIf you are not part of a California District 4 league\, the cost is $25.00 which goes towards clinic expenses. Select the Non-District 4 ticket option.

DESCRIPTION:Little League® International Baseball and Softball is pleased to extend a cordial invitation to all league volunteers to join our enthusiastic Little League Instructors in Williamsport\, Pennsylvania on September 25-29\, 2024\, to our Little League Umpire Academy. Students must be a minimum of eighteen years old to attend this Academy. Enrollment in this Academy will be limited to forty (40) participants. It will be held in the Dr. Creighton J. Hale International Grove Dining Hall\, Recreation Room (2nd Floor)\, and the field facilities at International Headquarters. Should we experience inclement weather all field exercises and plate work will be conducted indoors. \nThe week-long session will cover rules\, regulations\, and interpretations (Baseball and Softball); the mechanics of the two-umpire system; the philosophy\, mental approach\, and attitude toward Little League Baseball and Softball; the handling of situations and control of the game; as well as three-and four-umpire system discussions. \nThe cost of the academy will include three meals per day (Wednesday – Saturday)\, and one meal (Sunday)\, and housing in Little League International Dormitories. Each student attending the academy will need to provide their own equipment including an umpire hat\, indicator for balls and strikes\, baseball glove\, mask\, and complete plate gear (if they have it).
