The Czech Republic Earns their First Little League Baseball® World Series Win

The Europe and Africa Region defeated the Great Lakes Region Tuesday afternoon at Howard J. Lamade Stadium, 5-3, despite Michigan jumping out to an early lead.

Great Lakes’ bats were hot in the second inning with home runs by Antonio Moceri and Thomas Maxey. Chad Lorkowski hit a shot to center field for an RBI-single in the third inning.

Europe and Africa answered Great Lakes’ early 3-0 lead with an RBI-single by Marek Krejcirik in the third inning.

Krystof Jan Hruza and Viktor Vecerka scored on an error in the fourth inning to tie the score at threes.

A two-run double by Lukas Hlouch put Brno, Czech Republic, in the top of the fifth inning with what would be the final score, 5-3.

Robin Vavra got the win for Europe and Africa. He allowed three runs over five innings, striking out four batters.

This year marked the first time Czech Republic has been represented in the Little League Baseball® World Series. And they made Little League history with their victory on Tuesday.
