Game TEN
U.S. West vs. U.S. South
Tuesday, August 24, 1999
"Song of the South"
Alabama entered Tuesday night's game against Idaho controlling their own destiny. With a win, they would advance to Thursday's U.S. Champioship game.
Well, they won alright. Alabama scored twelve runs en route to a 12-0 victory. The win sets up a rematch with Toms River, New Jersey and they are definitely looking forward to it. "We'll go into the game knowing what it's going to be like," said South manager Tony Rasmus. "I feel much better this time around. Anytime you walk onto the field you have a chance."
The South victory was fueled by four homeruns which were hit by Cory Rasmus, Brandon Monk, Colby Rasmus, and William Gaston. Cory Rasmus and Monk hit their homeruns back-to-back in the fourth. Colby Rasmus' shot ended a five-run rally in the fifth.
Cory Rasmus and Brandon Monk were each 4-4, while Zack Martin added three hits of his own. Monk was a triple short of the cycle.

Gaston could be called the unsung hero of the South squad. He has reached base in every at-bat this tournament. His homerun proved to be the game-winning run as well. "William is our best defensive outfielder," Tony Rasmus said. "He is a super kid and a real team player."
