ABUNDANT OFFENSE PREVAILS FOR CANADA AGAIN

From the top of the lineup to the bottom, Canada is stacked.

In Canada’s final pool-play game against Europe, the 8th hitter, Jared Krouse, had a RBI double and the 9th hitter, Mark Henderson, had two singles and two RBI. And oh yeah, Sean Sargent hit another homerun. It was his fourth of the Series.

"I just dominated the pitch," he said. "I’m not really surprised with all of the homeruns that I’ve hit."

Five of Canada’s runs came in the 3rd when they batted around; a homerun, three base hits, and two walks inclusive. The other highlight for Canada was Tanner Mikesh who was 3-4 with two runs scored.

Krause pitched an excellent game in addition to the powerful offense. He struck out six men in five innings of work.

"My curveball was working," he said. "My performance was no better than usual."

For Europe, they end their World Series with of record of 1-2.

"We didn’t pitch as well as we should have," said Ian Holloway, manager of Europe. "The hitting also didn’t come around. I know the boys gave it their best shot."

Kevin Halloway, the coach’s son, said, "We played really good defense, but the hitting wasn’t too good."

Europe managed to score three runs in the final two innings, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Canadians.

Canada will now face Japan in Thursday’s International Championship.

"Japan is very disciplined," said Brian Sargent, manager of Canada. "They practice twice as hard as the other teams. I’m not worried because the boys have been focused all tournament long."
