BUSINESS AS USUAL FOR JAPANESE

Fresh off their 6-1 victory over Latin America, the Japanese continued their hot hitting with 10 runs on seven hits in a victory over the European Region champion Saudi Arabia.

Japan’s pool play record is now 2-0 and they look to be in pretty good shape. Tatsuya Sugata belted two homeruns and Masahiro Sugaya added a three-run shot to provide the bulk of the Japanese offense.

Europe was in the game for two innings until Japan sent seven runners across the plate in the 3rd. Saudi Arabia could only manage three hits off of three different Japanese pitchers; Tatsuya Sugata, Kazuya Hara, and Shinya Ikeda.

Saudi Arabia picked up two runs in the sixth but it was too little, too late. Attendance for Game 5 was 4,800. Game time: one hour, 56 minutes.
