Thursday night’s game at Lamade Stadium brought the Goodlettsville Tenn., and Kearney, Neb., in a face off at the plate, in which the Southeast came out victorious over the Midwest, 12-1, at the Little League World Series in South Williamsport.
The Southeast took a slight lead in the first inning when Luke Brown hit a ground rule double in to right center field, leaving Brown and Brock Myers on base for Cole Carter’s RBI single.
In the second inning the Southeast furthered its lead with a 2-run home run by Ryan Lyle, putting the Midwest in a 3-0 hole early.
During the fifth inning Brock Myers hit a 2-run home run, further increasing the Southeast's lead.
The final inning of the evening brought an even larger deficit for the Midwest with a RBI single by the Southeast's Colin O’Berry, followed directly by another RBI single by Jonathan Seals. Jake Rucker then hit a 3-run home run before Jayson Brown added another.
Luke Brown drove in the final run for the Southeast thanks to an RBI double, giving the Southeast a 12-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Midwest was able to get on the board with a hit by Zane Schmidt, sending home Nathan Murray for its lone run.
The Southeast plays the West on Sunday at 2 p.m. while the Midwest drops into the losers' bracket to face New England on Saturday at 3 p.m. in an elimination game.
