Coaches Toolkit A Valuable Resource For Little League Coaches and ManagersCoaches Toolkit A Valuable Resource For Little League Coaches and Managers
The Little League Baseball and Softball Coaches Toolkit (previously called the Coaches Registry) was created in 2007, to help managers and coaches improve their knowledge and learn how to be more effective in their many roles as a coach. Currently, the Coaches Toolkit provides separate packages for Little League Baseball and Little League Softball, which include sport-specific training manuals, video and other materials that will help both the novice and experienced coach. “We believe that regardless of the experience level of the coaches and managers or the level of the players they are coaching, the materials available in the Coaches Toolkit will be helpful,” Nick Caringi, Senior Director of Operations and Education at Little League International, said. “This additional resource will help improve coaching skills while making the games of baseball and softball more fun for the players and improving the effectiveness of the league.” The baseball package includes a choice of one “Big Al” Price instruction manuals - one for players ages 5-8, ages 9-12, or 13 and older. Big Al will again be conducting coaching clinics across the country in association with Little League International in 2012. The softball series offers two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Michele Smith’s newly-published training and practice guide. In addition, the toolkit offers the choice of one of two training DVDs – one featuring the fundamentals of the game by Michele Smith, or an option created by RightView Pro for more advanced coaches breaking down the swing with drills provided by Mike Candrea, head coach at the University of Arizona and the U.S. Olympic team, and Sue Enquist, 11-time NCAA champion as a player and coach at UCLA. In addition to instructional information, the Toolkit provides coaches with the latest Little League rulebook, a Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) handbook with helpful tips on how to be a better coach, and “What’s the Score” explaining how to score a game and a scorebook. Also, members have the ability to download the latest version of the Electronic Rulebook. The E-Rules section of the Little League website also has video explaining frequently misinterpreted rules. The Little League Baseball and Softball Coaches Toolkit is available now through the Little League online store at: www.LittleLeagueStore.net, with shipping beginning in January. Purchase of the Coaches Toolkit also affords member discounts on several items purchased through the Little League online store.
