Little League International Mourns the Passing of Oregon’s South Salem Little League President Michael SpidellLittle League International Mourns the Passing of Oregon’s South Salem Little League President Michael SpidellMichael Spidell, President of South Salem Little League, passed away on April 11. He was 57. A native of Pocatello, Idaho, Mr. Spidell served as South Salem Little League President for several years. During his time as a Little League volunteer, Mr. Spidell, was motivated to expand the opportunities for children to play Little League throughout his community. He was instrumental in coordinating the development of a four-field complex for softball in South Salem. He also oversaw the re-structuring of league boundaries to aid the softball programs in South Salem Little League and neighboring Sprague, Salem Pioneer and Parrish Little Leagues. Mr. Spidell was honored as Oregon District 7 Volunteer of the Year in 2007 for his dedication to Little League. Mr. Spidell, who attended Boise State University before joining the United States Navy, relocated to Salem in 1987. Professionally he owned an HVAC business that served areas in Oregon and Idaho. Mr. Spidell is survived by his wife of 33 years, Robin; daughters, Samantha and Stephanie; son, Donovan; Mother Justine Pino; granddaughter, Emma; sisters, Kaye Looney and Pat Farmer; brother, Alan Spidell; and many nieces and nephews. |
