Dates and Sites for 2010 Little League World Series Tournaments Announced

The dates and sites for the eight Little League World Series tournaments in 2010 were approved today by the Little League International Board of Directors, it was announced by Stephen D. Keener, President and Chief Executive Officer of Little League Baseball and Softball.

The Little League International Board of Directors wrapped up two days of meetings this afternoon with one of the many items on the agenda, the approval of the dates for the 2010 Little League World Series tournaments in both baseball and softball.

The sites for the eight championship tournaments remained the same for the seventh consecutive year.

The Big League Baseball World Series will kick off the month of championship tournaments to determine the top teams in the world in each division. Easley, S.C. will serve as the home for the Big League tournament for the 10th year as the oldest age division in baseball conducts its 41st championship beginning July 28.

The four softball tournaments then take center stage beginning with the Big League tournament in Kalamazoo, Mich. on Aug. 5.  The Senior League (Lower Sussex, Del.) begins its championship on Aug. 8, and is followed by the Little League (Portland, Ore.) division on Aug. 12, and the Junior League (Kirkland, Wash.) on Aug. 15.

Junior League (Taylor, Mich.) and Senior League (Bangor, Maine) Baseball tournaments also begin on Aug. 15 before the Little League Baseball World Series begins its 10-day run on Aug. 20 in South Williamsport, Pa.

The annual 32-game showcase of the top 11- and 12-year-old teams in the world will play the U.S. and International championship games on Saturday, Aug. 28 with the title game scheduled for the following day.  The Park View Little League squad from Chula Vista, Calif. extended the streak of U.S. champions to five with a 6-3 victory over the Asia-Pacific representative in the 2009 tournament.

Little League Baseball and Softball is the world’s largest organized youth sports program, with nearly 2.6 million players and 1 million adult volunteers in every U.S. state and scores of other countries.

July 28 to Aug. 4 – Easley, S.C. (Easley Recreation Complex) – 10th season in Easley; 41st season overall
Big League Softball (14-18-year-old girls)
Aug. 5 to Aug. 11 – Kalamazoo, Mich. (Vanderberg Park) - 18th season in Kalamazoo; 29th season overall
Senior League Softball (14-16-year-old girls)
Aug. 8 to Aug. 14 – Lower Sussex, Del. (Pyle Center) – 7th season in Lower Sussex; 35th season overall
Little League Softball (11-12-year-old girls)
Aug. 12 to Aug. 18 – Portland, Ore. (Alpenrose Stadium) - 17th season on Portland; 37th season overall
Junior League Softball (13-14-year-old girls)
Aug. 15 to Aug. 21 – Kirkland, Wash. (Everest Park) – 12th season in Kirkland; 12th season overall
Junior League Baseball (13-14-year-olds)
