LITTLE LEAGUE WILL ACCEPT DECISION 
OF DOMINICAN REPUBLIC GOVERNMENT

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (August 30, 2001, 10:30 a.m. Eastern) – Little League Baseball will accept the decision of the government of the Dominican Republic regarding the correct date of birth for Danny Almonte, a participant in the 2001 Little League Baseball World Series on the Rolando Paulino Little League team from the Bronx, N.Y.

“Little League Baseball has been in contact with senior U.S. officials in the State Department, as well as those familiar with the process now underway in the Dominican Republic,” Stephen D. Keener, President and Chief Executive Officer of Little League Baseball, said. “We are confident that the matter is being handled appropriately by the Dominican Republic, and we have every reason to abide by its determination. Once the determination is made on Danny Almonte’s age, the Little League Baseball Charter Committee will meet to discuss the issue.”
