Planning A Trip To The Little League Baseball World Series?Here’s the scoop… WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (March 2002) – The 56th Little League Baseball World Series is scheduled for August 16-25, 2002. For those contemplating a trip to Williamsport for the greatest youth sporting event on Earth, here are a few tips: When Where Howard J. Lamade Stadium, where the final rounds of the Little League World Series have been played every year since 1959, seats approximately 9,000. The hillside terraces just beyond the outfield fence, which offer excellent viewing, can accommodate about 30,000 more fans. (To see a seating chart of Lamade Stadium, click here.) Little League Volunteer Stadium, for some of the early round games, seats about 5,000. The 2002 Series will again feature 16 teams from around the world, as it was expanded from the traditional eight teams after the 2000 Series. If you are arriving by car, simply take U.S. Route 15 into South Williamsport, and follow the signs to stadium parking. Public parking is free. Admission/Tickets While tickets for certain sections of the stadiums are required, they are not required for certain other sections, or the terraces at Lamade Stadium. If you plan to watch the games from the terraced hills at Lamade Stadium, you may want to bring a small blanket. (Large tarps will not be permitted, nor will coolers, large bags, or large containers, anywhere in the stadium or on the terraces. To help ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants and fans, all bags are subject to inspection.) Requests for reserved seating tickets in the stadiums are no longer being accepted. However, you may obtain souvenir Terrace Passes by sending a stamped, self-addressed envelope, with the number of passes requested, to: Attention – Souvenir Terrace Passes; Little League Baseball International Headquarters; PO Box 3485; Williamsport, PA 17701. Remember, no ticket is required for certain sections of the stadiums for most of the games. Only for the games on the Championship Weekend (Aug. 24-25) will tickets be required for stadium seating.
