Columbia Shuttle Memorial

In Memoriam

Little League Baseball extends its deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the seven Space Shuttle Columbia astronauts who perished on February 1, 2003.  Heroes all, they embodied the very best of humanity. While we mourn their loss, their character, courage, and loyalty will forever remain a beacon for the world’s children.

(Feb. 3, 2003) – The flag at Little League Baseball International flies at half staff. President Bush ordered that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff through Feb. 5, as a mark of respect for Rick Douglas Husband, William C. McCool, Laurel Blair Salton Clark, Kalpana Chawla, Michael P. Anderson, David M. Brown, and Ilan Ramon, who gave their lives during the mission of STS-107 aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia.
