Little League Museum to Host “Kid’s Day”
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (March 12, 2004) – The Peter J. McGovern
Little League Museum, in cooperation with SusCom and Jersey Shore
State Bank, will host Kid’s Day on March 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Admission to the museum, located on U.S. Route 15 in South
Williamsport, will be free for all ages (including adults) on Kid’s
Day.Information from more than twenty youth-oriented organizations
will be on display for visitors. In addition, children will be able to
attend story time with Little League mascot Dugout and the
Williamsport Crosscutters’ Rusty Roughcut. Children also can attend a
batting and pitching clinic with Williamsport High baseball coach
Scott Grove, and learn healthy eating tips from Chef Hosh of
Susquehanna Health System.
Before the event, children are encouraged to participate in the
Kid’s Day Scavenger Hunt. The first 200 children with completed lists
will receive a free gift bag. All children with a complete list will
be entered into random drawings for great prizes, including a
Williamsport Crosscutters Family Pack and a Little League World Series
Championship Weekend Package. Scavenger Hunt lists can be obtained at
any Jersey Shore State Bank.
The Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum, a two-story, 23,000
square foot, colonial style structure, was dedicated August 28, 1982,
to the countless volunteers upon whom the Little League program
thrives. The museum traces the Little League program from one league
in 1939 to an international movement involving millions of children,
with a variety of educational and entertaining “hands-on” exhibits and
displays. From Oct. 1 until Memorial Day, it is open from 10 a.m. to 5
p.m. on Monday, Thursday and Friday, noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and
noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Group discounts are available. For more

organized youth sports program with nearly 2.7 million participants
