Little League Baseball World Series Coverage Receives Two Emmy Nominations
The ABC/ESPN presentation of the 2003 Little League Baseball World Series was nominated for Outstanding Live Sports Special, and ABC's coverage of the Little League World Series was nominated in the Outstanding Open/Tease category. The awards ceremony will take place April 19 in New York City. “Little League has been a proud partner of ABC for more than 40 years, and ESPN for nearly 20 years,” said Stephen D. Keener, president and chief executive officer of Little League Baseball and Softball. “Their creativity and dedication helps to convey the message to millions of people that Little League teaches children the values of teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play, even as the coverage focuses on the outstanding athleticism we see each year here in Williamsport. We congratulate ABC and ESPN on being nominated, and wish them best of luck this April at the awards ceremony.”
Last year, more than 40 games in Little League Baseball and Softball were televised nationally on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2. Dozens of Little League Baseball and Softball games also were televised regionally and locally. (More information on the procedure for televising games locally is available from the Regional Offices.)
