Little League Road Show Returns, Ready to Make Stop in a Town Near You
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (Oct. 13, 2006) – The “Little League Road Show,” a
training and education component of Little League Baseball and
Softball, is gearing up for another year, and will again team with
local volunteers to provide education and support to its chartered
leagues through a series of clinics and seminars.
“The Little League Road Show is a local league administration
clinic, with an available umpire clinic presentation, that allows
volunteers to have direct access to the resources that can help make
their leagues become more organized and operate better,” Joe Losch,
senior vice president for Little League International, said. “The
Little League Road Show has been successful on so many levels. It
has enabled us to take the program to the volunteers and address
their specific questions and concerns.”
The Road Show clinics, supported in part by AIG Insurance, revolve
around the presentation of “A Year in the Life of Hometown Little
League,” in which the workings of a fictional league are followed
throughout an entire year. This format provides local league
administrators an opportunity to review the latest information on
Little League rules, equipment, and programs, while creating a forum
to speak directly with Little League staff members.
“AIG Insurance is not only the national insurance underwriter for
Little League Baseball and Softball,” Dan Kirby, Little League
International’s director of risk management, said. “AIG supports
several Little League endeavors such as the annual awards program,
ASAP (A Safety Awareness Plan), the annual Little League Golf
Classic, and Tee Ball games on the South Lawn of the White House.
Through AIG’s financial assistance, Little League is able to broaden
the scope of its educational programs by offsetting the travel
expenses for Little League International staff and regional staff
attending the Road Show clinics. The commitment shown by AIG is
subtle, yet significant as Little League International strives to
provide its local leagues with the means to better serve their
communities.”
In addition to the Little League Road Shows, Little League’s
regional centers will continue to offer instructional programs to
district administrators, local league officers, umpires, managers
and coaches at clinics and seminars, in several U.S. states.
